My goal as a teacher is to teach a well-rounded basic technique with photography and graphic design. As both trades are highly affected by technology’s dizzying rate of growth, the mediums seem to evolve daily. I try to simplify both mediums by teaching through real-world projects. I view the camera and the digital software on the computer as tools. This doesn’t mean they are not fun too! I use a blog, to help students link to helpful websites, tutorials, stories, and even classroom handouts. I enjoy enabling people and seeing them become improved artists throughout the semester.
I am a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a BA in Journalism. I worked for four years as a backcountry landscape photographer and journalist in Alaska. Today, In addition to teaching, I own and operate my own photography business. My own passion for photography stems from a fascination in drawing analogies from a crystallized moment in time.
