I encourage my students to cultivate the individual creative spirit in themselves.
I teach to the individual and base all the technical aspects of making art on the principle of facilitating growth and defining a sense of purpose.
Technical excellence is always a major goal but by no means the only goal.
Learning the fundamentals of different techniques and striving for mastery of those techniques is a stepping stone to finding the primary motivation for making Art.
Each class then builds upon the foundation of technical challenges and the study of art history ultimately leading to the students giving form to a new idea.
Each class also incorporates a critique which provides a forum for students to learn to discuss their work and the work of their peers.
